What is CoderDojo?

CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community based programming clubs for young people aged 7 to 17. We are the Melbourne chapter of this amazing initiative! There are 1100+ dojos in 63+ countries worldwide now.

What is the difference between CoderDojo Melbourne, and individual dojos like Inspire9 in Richmond?

CoderDojo Melbourne is the umbrella entity that helps promote CoderDojo around the Melbourne area. CoderDojo Melbourne helps set up new dojos, offers advice etc. It also serves as a single point of contact for all the dojos in Melbourne

How many dojos are in Melbourne

There are always new dojos popping up! Head over to our 'Find Us' page to locate your nearest dojo.

Is it really free?

Yes, it is. And it always will be 100% free.

Who runs the dojo?

Dojos are run by volunteer mentors. All mentors are required to have a valid Working With Children card.

What do I need to bring?

Every dojo is run separately and may have a slightly different model to others. However, almost always a laptop with WiFi is required. Parents or guardians are required to stay with their children during the dojo sessions.

How do I sign up or enroll?

As previously mentioned, each dojo is run separately by its own volunteers. For more details on the dojo you are interested, contact them directly by clicking on the link in the 'Find Us' page. Is there a recommended age?

The recommended age is 7 -17 years of age.
